"David Wilber has arrived and so has his bank. Business will be commenced in a few days."
With this brief statement the Oneonta Herald announced the arrival of the town's newest financial institution in 1873. David Wilber's Bank had actually opened a few years earlier in Milford, New York, to aid Mr. Wilber's prospering hops business.

When the railroad reached nearby Oneonta in 1865, Mr. Wilber sensed that this growing community would be a promising location for his business ventures. Early in 1873, he made the decision to move. He and his son, George I., set up shop in a portion of Walter Brown's Hardware Store at the corner of Main and Dietz Streets in Oneonta. Business steadily increased and on June 6, 1874, David Wilber's Bank was granted its national charter. Six days later Wilber National Bank opened for business.

Today, Wilber has grown into a financial institution with 23 full-service branch offices located in Otsego, Delaware, Schoharie, Ulster, Chenango, Onondaga, Saratoga and Broome counties and two loan production offices located in Otsego and Saratoga counties.

Wilber Bank offers a complete range of financial services including checking accounts, savings and retirement plans, loans and trust and investment services.
