Oswego City Savings Bank, the oldest savings institution in Oswego County, was incorporated on March 4, 1859. In January of that year, Assemblyman D.C. Littlejohn of Oswego, who also served as Speaker of the Assembly, introduced a measure creating the bank which passed both houses of the New York State Legislature. This bill was signed by Governor Edwin D. Morgan as Chapter 28 of the Laws of 1859. On May 28th of 1859, Oswego City Savings Bank opened its doors for business.

1859 - Pathfinder Bank, the oldest institution in Oswego County was incorporated on March 4.

1859 - Bank opens May 28, 1859. Thomas Kingsford elected bank president.

1874 - Bank opens it's new building at present location.

1879 - Dr. Byron DeWitt becomes bank president.

1894 - Bank's assets total $1 million.

1906 - Installation of Burroughs adding machine marking the beginning of the automation of the bank's operations.

1908 - The bookkeeping was changed to a card system.

1911 - The bank purchased its first typewriter and change machine.

1912 - Elliott B. Mott becomes bank president.

1914 - Due to WWI, the bank invests funds into Liberty Bonds. Customers who purchased war bonds were given free safe deposit storage.

1940 - Bank joins the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

1947 - George M. Penney succeeds Mott as bank president.

1949 - Total modernization of the bank is completed.
1956 - Charles W. Gilbert elected as president.

1961 - Bank offers low-cost savings bank life insurance to depositors.

1962 - Bank began to study the desirability of Automated Teller Machines.

1967 - Bank opens new branch in Oswego Plaza Shopping Center.

1970 - Bank offers a new type of savings account that pays a higher interest rate than regular savings, and requires a mininum balance and a time period for funds to remain on deposit called a Time Deposit Account.

1970 - A walk-up window opened in the bank's main office entrance.

1972 - Day of deposit to day of withdrawal savings accounts offered.

1974 - Renovations and expansions completed in Plaza Branch.

1975 - Carl E. Grulich elected president.

1976 - Checking accounts added to bank's services.

1977 - Tele-Teller answering service of checking accounts and other transactions implemented.

1978 - Grand opening of Mexico Branch on October 16, 1978.

1980 - Harold Van Opdorp elected president.

1982 - New computer was purchased and employees were trained to computerize the general ledger system.

1986 - Computerization of all savings accounts, mortgages, personal loans, and other transactions completed.

1986 - Chris Gagas elected bank's president on August 11, 1986.

1986 - New in-house telephone system installed to increase communication between employees and customers.

1987 - Bank adopts a business plan for future operations.

1987 - Plaza Branch is built to replace the older facilities at the Oswego Plaza.

1987 - City Savings Bank Loan Center is opened to provide customers with added conveniences in applying for mortgage, home improvement, home equity, personal, auto, boat and student loans.

1987 - The Bank introduces the City Savings READY Banking Card for customers. On-site ATM introduced at Plaza Branch.

1994 - Bank purchases the Fulton and Oswego locations of Columbia Banking Federal Savings and Loan - increasing branch totals to five.

1995 - Oswego City Savings Bank becomes a stock held institution with an initial public offering of $7.50. Forms Pathfinder Bancorp. Inc. as mutual holding company.

1997 - Bank introduces first off-sight ATM at Sunrise Foods in Mexico.

1999 - Bank's internet site is introduced as www.pathfinderbank.com.

1999 - Oswego City Savings Bank officially changes its name to Pathfinder Bank on November 29, 2000 and incorporates the tagline, "Your Financial Guide".

2000 - Bank celebrates grand opening of new investment and trust services department and additional office space at main office.

2000 - Thomas Schneider elected bank president on January 14, 2000.

2001 - Pathfinder Bank launches eSolutions by Pathfinder in September 2001 providing convenient internet banking access to its customers.

2001 - Pathfinder also introduces Check Imaging from Pathfinder, a statement filing system for checking account customers. Customers now receive images of their check activity and can store them in a convenient binder system.

2001 - The Bank finalizes renovations of the new Branch Administration/Marketing Department and Employee Training Center above the Trust/Loan Department.

2002 - Pathfinder Bank launches Pathfinder Relationship Banking in April 2002, a family of banking products that looks at individual relationships and customer needs. Free and Easy Checking is introduced along with Plus, Platinum, Business and Extra Banking.

2002 - Pathfinder Bank announces the purchase of Cayuga Bank's Lacona Branch location in May 2002. The Bank will retain all staff members and aquires $27 million in assets.

2005 - Bank builds new branch in Central Square which opened June 12, 2005.

2006 - Fall of 2006 Pathfinder redesigns the East Branch to accomodate customers with a new state of the art Downtown Drive Thru location.

2009 - Pathfinder Bank celebrates 150 years!
