A Litttle Bit About Us
On January 1, 2004 Niagara's Choice Federal Credit Union became the new "official name" of the former OxyChem Niagara Federal Credit Union. The change in name was approved by the Board of Directors to more accurately represent the expanding membership of the credit union.
The credit union was originally founded in 1953 by a small group of employees of the former Hooker Chemical Company. For over fifty years, the credit union has remained committed to offering its members better savings and loan opportunities. In addition, the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" has remained a cornerstone of the organization's operating practices.
In 1989 the credit union changed its name to OxyChem Niagara Federal Credit Union to coincide with Hooker Chemical becoming Occidental Chemical (OxyChem).
Where We Are Today...
Today, Niagara's Choice FCU is a "Full Service Financial Institution", cooperatively owned by its more than 12,000 members. While the majority of the membership is within Niagara County, some members are served by the credit union all across the U.S.
Over the years much has changed since the credit union was created. We've grown, we've added many new products and services, and now membership is open to all persons who live, work, worship or attend school in Niagara County. One thing has not changed however and that is our Commitment to Serve You - the Member Owners!
The all-volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the membership, as well as the various volunteer Committee Members, guide the credit union in all areas. Over the years their direction has made it possible to bring you the complete line of products and services now available.
As part of the Federal Credit Union cooperative movement, members enjoy the benefits associated with cooperatives. As a result the credit union can offer a wide range of products and services to better serve your needs.
We truly care about our members. Being a local financial institution, we get to know our members, your needs, your goals, you! We try to meet any request, no matter how big or small.
