Our Mission
“To excel in meeting the financial needs of our members and to maintain a sound financial position.”

Our Vision
“We are the Hudson Valley’s first choice for a lifetime financial services partner.”

Our History
In October 1963, a group of IBM employees had a vision—to create a financial cooperative for IBM employees and their families, where the needs of the individual would be placed before profit. Our product line in the beginning was modest, consisting of basic savings and consumer loans. By the end of our first year, the credit union had 14 member accounts and $172 in assets.

Our name has changed over the years, our assets, products, and services have grown. Our membership has evolved to reflect the changing needs of our surrounding community but our mission and vision remain the same. Today, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union is a full service not-for-profit financial cooperative, 200,000 members strong. We extend membership to our neighbors who live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in the counties of Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange.

How We are Governed
As a cooperative we are made up of shareholders, or members, run by a governing Board of Directors. The officers and Directors who serve on the Board are unpaid volunteers who give of their time to establish policies and strategies that will help our financial cooperative grow.

An election is held for open positions in which members over 18 years of age can vote. Directors serve a 3-year term. Any member can volunteer to run for the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Committee, or a board committee.

Selecting a mortgage may be one of the most important financial decision you will ever make.
A mortgage is a major financing purchase, one that will be with you for years to come. It’s important to educate yourself and shop wisely when choosing a mortgage. A difference in points, payment type, or down payment requirements, no matter how small, can all affect your monthly payment and ability to finance. That’s why it’s important to compare features to get the best mortgage for your situation.

When it comes to home financing, everyone’s needs are different. Where you are in life, your family size, income, budget, and savings all come into focus when it’s time to buy or change homes. That’s why we’ve created so many choices in mortgage lending—to please the varied tastes of our mortgage shoppers.
