FCFCU History
From Humble Beginnings...
Fulton County Teachers Federal Credit Union was founded on June 9, 1972 by ten forward-looking individuals who each contributed $2.50 for a National Credit Union Administration Charter.
Its humble beginnings were in a small, one-room office at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. There, members conducted transactions during limited hours a few times per week.
Over the past thirty years, the Credit Union has evolved from its humble beginnings at FMCC to a modern facility, $39-Million in assets and twenty-five employees who are dedicated to making the Credit Union work for its 10,000 member/owners.
Also working for the members are eleven individuals who comprise the Credit Union's Board of Directors. These members volunteer their time and energy attending monthly board meetings, numerous committee meetings and an annual planning seminar. They are constantly educating themselves to stay current with the ever-changing, complex financial world.
On July 9, 2002, the National Credit Union Administration officially approved a name change for the credit union; therefore, the name was changed to Fulton County Federal Credit Union.
The current field of membership is more diverse since the inception of the credit union's charter in 1972. In lieu of the name change, Fulton County Federal Credit Union's commitment to its 10,000 members - teachers and non-teachers - remain the same.
Together, the board and the staff of the Credit Union are working to provide convenient, quality financial services that best meet the needs of the credit union's members, while insuring a strong financial institution.
Who is Eligible for Membership?
Persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in Fulton County, New York; Montgomery County, New York; or the Towns of Arietta, Benson, Hope, Wells, Lake Pleasant, Speculator or Indian Lake in Hamilton County, New York.
And also included are spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union, employees of this credit union, members of their immediate family or household, and organizations of such persons.
An initial deposit of $5 or more in a share account is all that's required to join. This provides you with a lifetime membership even if you retire, move, or leave for another job.
Loan Accounts
FCFCU loans are offered at reasonable interest rates and are available to help you meet most major expenses. In addition, we offer 24 hour approval in most cases..
New Vehicles
Loans are available for purchasing new cars, motorcycles, recreational vehicles or trucks. New vehicles can be financed for up to five years. Special six year loans are available for vehicles costing more than $15,000.
Used Vehicles
Five-year loans are available for one- and two-year-old vehicles. Four-year loans are available for for three- and four-year-old vehicles. Three year loans are available for vehicles five- years and older.
Line of Credit
Borrow what you need when you need it. Apply for a line of credit for maximum flexibility.
Share Secured
Funds in your regular share or certificate accounts may be used as collateral for loans at a lower rate than most other loans.
Home Improvement
Borrow the funds you need for that remodeling or building project you have in mind.
Mortgages & Home Equity
FCFCU offers a full range of fixed and variable rate first and second mortgages to enable you to buy or refinance a home in New York State.
Personal
Apply for a loan that's backed by your signature alone - no security necessary - and finance it for up to five years.
Guaranteed Student Loans
Government secured student loans: Stafford, PLUS, Consolidated student loans. The rate for student loans is set the for all participating institutions. The rates are set by the Federal Government.
